"Grace and
peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as
His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness,
through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have
been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these
you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that
is in the world through lust." (2 Peter 1:2-4 NKJ)
Everything that a
child needs, to live and grow is supplied by the child’s parents. They provide
everything within their power. The parents do not always supply everything the
child desires and wishes, but they provide all those things that pertain to living
and growing.
In like manner, God
has provided “All things that pertain to life and godliness.” Everything you
and I need to help us make it to heaven has all been provided through Christ,
“who called us” and who has "given to us exceedingly great and precious promises.”
The Apostle Paul
told the Philippians, "And my God shall supply all your need according to
His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19 NKJ). God provides
all we need so that we can share His holiness, since we have escaped from the corruption
of both our sinful desires and the world's traps.
I wonder if 21st
century Christians truly appreciate the value of this escape. Do we truly grasp
what such escape means to us eternally?
Dear Father, thank
you for supplying all our needs. Enable us to truly know the eternal value of
your promises. Empower us with the faith and fortitude to receive your
provision. I pray this in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Walk in God's
provision today,
