"I will sing of
the mercies of the LORD forever; With my mouth will I make known Your
faithfulness to all generations. For I have said, "Mercy shall be built up
forever; Your faithfulness You shall establish in the very heavens."
(Psalm 89:1-2 NKJ)
This Psalmist, Ethan
ben Ezra, decided to do some forever singing. It seems that he believed in the
Forever God. And when we believe in the Forever God, we can sing forever
praises!
What is Forever
Singing? It is singing praise every morning about God's new mercies. It is
singing every day about his compassion, which has kept us from being consumed.
Singing every day about his faithfulness. How great it is! Singing every day
about our portion in the Lord and the hope he supplies.
Ethan says, “I am
never going to stop singing of Jehovah’s mercies. I’m going to tell every
generation, children – youth – middle agers – elders, about his faithfulness.”
Now if we sing to
the Forever God, then we must be faithful to him. When we talk and sing about
his faithfulness, something stirs desire and commitment inside of us. When we
become a "forever singer," the Spirit of faithfulness makes us want
to become like the one to whom we sing.
I sing that God is
faithful, because he is! I sing that he called me into his fellowship, because
he did! I sing that he is Lord, because he is! I never want to stop singing,
because I am closer to my redemption than I have ever been. I will forever sing
of the Lord's mercies.
Dear Father, thank
you for your forever mercies and faithfulness. Empower me be faithful to you
and sing continuously of your grace and power. I pray this in the name of
Jesus. AMEN
Sing about Christ
today,
