Changing Seasons

"To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven" (Ecclesiastes 3:1 NKJ).

What a great Bible verse! Do you ever wonder about the times and seasons in our lives? What brought this or that into my life? Why did this or that happen to me today? When will these circumstances ever change?

A few years ago when I worked as a surgical technician, I was asked to assist the most difficult surgeon at the hospital. I stated to my supervisor: “Have I been that bad?” Of course, I was only joking and immediately went to the room assigned to me and did my job.

How do we respond when the seasons and changes come into our lives? Do we want to blame someone for these changes? Or, do we realize that God is in control? Do we believe that he will see us through the changes, good or bad?

Sometimes, it is only when things are going good that we think God is helping us. Yet,  when things are not going well, we tend to think he must have abandoned us. But our God is not capricious. He is present with us during both bad seasons and good times. He is sad with us when we hurt and he rejoices with us during the good seasons of life.

What a wonderful God we serve! As the holiday seasons of Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year unfold there will be changes. Some changes will be good, some will not. Yet,  I am trusting the One who knows all the times and seasons of my life. He will be there for every season and change in my life.

I will thank God today for the love and care he gives to me. He knows all about me. He never slumbers nor sleeps. He gives me grace for today. He has everything in control! He is never surprised at what today holds. He is my refuge and security! What an awesome God we serve!

As the seasons of my life flow along, I remember that "the God on the mountain is still God in the valley. The God of the good times is still God in the bad times. The God of the day is still God in the night.” What a great confidence  we have in every season of our lives: God is with us!

Dear Father, thank you for the wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. I want to constantly give you thanks for all your benefits to me. May I worship you for the birth of your son who so freely gave his life. And I worship you in advance for the New Year. Whatever the times and seasons bring in my life, I trust you.

Be strong and courageous in changing seasons,

(written by Bobbie Smith)
