Charlotte walked
across Wal-Mart to the film department. After giving her the pictures, the
check-out clerk commented on her perfume. “That’s what I wear too. Well, I used
to anyway.” She looked away quickly, biting her lip.
The Spirit gently
nudged Charlotte. “This is the opportunity you have been asking for. Share your
perfume.” Charlotte had purchased three new bottles at the perfume sale across
the store.
Doubt raised its
ugly head. “Don’t be silly. God doesn’t work like this. He isn’t concerned
about this woman’s perfume.” The Spirit, however, continued to tug at
Charlotte’s heart, as she finished shopping. Her desire for Holy Spirit
guidance finally won out and Charlotte returned to the photo counter, then
asked for the clerk who had helped her.
When the young lady
came to the counter Charlotte held out a bottle of her perfume. “I wanted you
to have some of this. I think it might be important to you,” she said.
Tears filled the
clerk’s eyes. “Oh! I used to wear this when I was dating my husband. I have
been so stressed lately with family, school and work that I was ready to give
up and end it all.” She came around the counter and hugged Charlotte warmly.
“Thank you. I’ll wear it tonight and remember how much my husband and family
mean to me.”
Dear Father, thank
you for your guiding Spirit. Empower us to hear your Spirit and obey his
leading. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be strong and
courageous today letting God's Spirit lead,
