Depend On God

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5 (NLT)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and “do not depend on your own understanding,” have you ever thought how powerful those words are to us in everyday life? How can we possibly give everything to God and completely trust Him to make all things right in our lives? The answer is very simple and also very complicated. The answer is: we do this by faith. We know that He has, and always will have, our best interests at heart. We trust Him for the direction of our paths or the choices we make.

Have you ever thought about the decisions you have made and then look back, realizing that God had it all in control and knew the answer long before you made the decisions? We have made choices in the years of our ministry and many times have asked: ‘have we made the right choice?’ Then when we prayed, trusted God, and made the choice that we felt was the correct one to make, despite being unsure of the outcome, He has always led us in the right paths. Trust in him and do not lean on self.

Our text also tells us to acknowledge Him in all our ways and He will direct our paths. So many times, we all want things to go our way, making it hard to trust and lean when He is leading us in a different path than we would like to go. But allowing God to lead us, has proven to Sylvester and me, that it is the right decision in every situation. It began with our acknowledgement of His presence in our lives.

One of my favorite poems is The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. The last line in that poem is: “I chose the road less traveled and it has made all the difference.” Have you also chosen the road less traveled? Has it been the one He wanted and not the one you would have chosen? Can you see the difference it has made in your life? Trusting Him, leaning on Him, acknowledging Him in all our ways, and letting Him lead us where He wants us to be has made me realize that God always has our best interests at heart. He will always be there for us and we can trust Him with every situation in our lives. What a great and wonderful God we serve!

Dear Father, thank you for being trustworthy. May I always depend on you for everything in my life and empower me to trust you even more. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be strong and courageous today depending on God,
