Jesus Loves Me

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 KJV)

My wife (Bobbie) and grandson (Grant) were looking out the door when birds gathered in the yard, chirping away joyously. Bobbie said, “Oh, look Grant at the birds.” And Grant looked at his dad (Jonathan), who was sitting nearby, and cried, “Look daddy, the birds are singing!” Jonathan smiled and said, “What are they singing?” Without missing a beat or giving it thought Grant said, “Jesus loves me this I know . . .”

“Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?” (Matthew 21:16 KJV re: Psalm 8:2).

When we go to Psalm 8, we discover the praise was ordained to flow out of children’s mouths “because of thine (our) enemies.” The deceiver would tempt adults to become so engrossed with the cares of this life that they forget God and his praises. But little children see the blessings of God in every situation and circumstance unencumbered with the resulting problems.

Now, personal worship is not only about praising God. Psalm 8:2 shows us that our praise is so “that thou (we) might still (silence) the enemy and the avenger.” Now there’s a concept no human would have ever imagined. The adversary of God never conceived of such a maneuver. It was a totally new concept born in the multi-faceted wisdom of God before the creation of our universe.

Jesus loves me! Shout it out and silence the enemy! Sing about it and defeat the avenger!

Dear Father, thank you for your love. Empower me to love like Jesus loves. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be strong and courageous today singing of his love,
