"For the Lord
GOD will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced; Therefore I have set My
face like a flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed." (Isaiah 50:7
NKJ)
Seventy years ago,
the world was at war. The axis powers lead by Germany were determined to
conquer the world. The allies of liberty lead by Great Britain planned an
offensive to defeat these enemy nations and restore liberty to the conquered
nations.
And the day to begin
this great liberation was known as D-Day. Due to changes in the weather, D-Day
continued to fluctuate and almost didn't happen at all. But finally, the Allied
Supreme Commander, US General Dwight Eisenhower, gave the order to commence.
And despite the inclement weather the allies crossed the English Channel and
landed on the Normandy beaches.
Despite the troubled
landing; despite the heavy casualties; despite the enemy bombardment; and
despite every other obstacle, the allied soldiers had but one object . . . to
defeat the enemy and take back what had been conquered.
Sometimes I reach a
place in my life that calls for a decision. It may be a hard decision to make.
It may require a commitment that I have never faced before. It may require
action that I have never had to do before. It usually deals with my person
rather than the objective. It always
challenges me and my determination. I always have to ask, "Do I have the
fortitude for this challenge?"
Jesus said,
"For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and
count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it -- lest, after he has laid
the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him . .
." (Luke 14:28-29 NKJ). This is not
a statement about the difficulty of a project. Instead, it is a personal
challenge to the disciple of Christ. Do I have the intestinal fortitude and
spiritual resources to see this campaign through to it's intended conclusion? I
must carefully count the cost to pursue it successfully.
Thank God the allies
for liberty carefully counted the costs involved and decided that with God's
help the invasion would succeed. And it did! I am invading the devil's
territory, and by the Lord's help I intend to see it through to a successful
conclusion.
Dear Father, thank
you for those who have sacrificed for our freedoms. By the power of the Holy
Spirit, enable me to be faithful and determined to defeat the enemy on all
fronts. I pray this in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Have you set your
face like a flint? Do you have the resources to finish the job?
