Stay Focused . . . God's Plan . . . Eternity

"I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread." (Psalm 37:25 NKJ)

It's the same old, repeated story. Time waits for no one. It continues unhindered on its path. Time marches on taking eyesight, hearing, taste and smell with it. And don't forget, time makes the belly drop.

Time has a way of bringing obsolescence  into focus. From walking to horse and buggy to the Model T to Corvettes and airplanes and space shuttles. From talking machines to record players to color TV to video and MP4. From 8-party-line telephones to cell phones to the internet to thumb drives and IPads. Everything eventually becomes outdated and obsolescent.

And with the passage of time comes birthdays making us consider the passage in personal terms. Yet, there is one thing that time cannot steal. We wish it were memories, but it is eternal salvation. This gift of God cannot be stolen or rusted away. It will never become obsolescent!

If old means worn out and no longer useful or relevant, then thank God for a plan to deliver us from it. Age is only a word, even if my body does dispute it. Life does not consist of gadgets and machines. They serve as convenient instruments to make my life easier. Technology serves me not the other way around.

I relish the knowledge that God is not old. He has no birthdays. God is. God lives. He always has and he always will. Oh, think of the life we will enjoy in his presence where  time neither exists nor makes things be obsolescent. He does not forsake those who trust in him!

Dear Father, thank you for the time you give us in this life. Empower us with the firm trust that you have not forsaken us. I pray this in the name of Jesus. AMEN

You are not obsolescent! Stay focused on God's plan for you.
