Thinking of Paradise

"But as it is written, 'Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.'" (1Corinthians 2:9 KJV referencing Isaiah 64:4)

Today is our last full day in Maui, Hawaii. The Hawaiians like to refer to it as "the Island of Paradise."

Yes, Maui is very beautiful! This wonderful time of rest and relaxation will come to an end this evening. Our plane will return us to our normal life and routine. We have had a great  vacation. We have seen extraordinary sunsets and sunrises. We have enjoyed the trade winds -- don't worry about your hair, the wind "combs" it for you.

The beautiful sights of Maui cannot be adequately appreciated from pictures. The wonders of this island paradise cannot be fully experienced from verbal accounts. They must be seen for your self, with your own eyes. But as I think of retuning to my "real world" in Anniston, Alabama, I get excited about going home.

And thinking of "home" makes me think of Heaven. Just think, one day we will go "home" to a place that God has prepared for us. All the beauty of Hawaii cannot compare to the beauty of Heaven. I can only imagine what Heaven will look like. O, what wonders heaven holds!

This reminds me of the song: "What a day that will be." It causes me to look forward to that day. There is coming a day when we will enter the paradise with no last days. In that heavenly, eternal paradise we will experience all of God's wonder and beauty. We'll never have to return  to the cares of this life or the struggles it brings.

Christian songwriter and singer Squire Parsons wrote, "Some call it dreaming. Oh, let me dream on! Some call it paradise, somewhere beyond the skies. Some call it heaven, but I call it home." Oh, I want to go there, don't you? There are no "last days" in God's paradise!

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the beauty we see in this world. We know it is only a glimpse of  the wonders you have prepared for us in Heaven. Empower us to be faithful. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be strong and courageous today thinking of paradise,
