Without an intensive theological and biblical
discussion, we may recognize wisdom as the knowledge that results in skillful
living when acted upon. A skilled life is
living with intention. A wise, discreet life results from the thoughtful choices
between right and wrong.
Wisdom and discretion means living your life
with God as your primary counselor. It means living by holy morals and
discernment. It means knowing that real life proceeds according to the law of
sowing and reaping. What you give is what you receive. How you treat others is
how you will be treated. Righteousness produces blessing and sin results in trouble
and sorrow and disappointment. A wise person lives with eternity in view.
Wisdom is more valuable than fame or fortune.
Solomon teaches us that if life offers you gold in one hand and wisdom in the
other, then choose the wisdom. If a fork in the road dictates a choice between
fame and wisdom, then choose the road of wisdom.
And the irony is this: choosing wisdom will
produce long life, honor, riches, happiness, and peace. In other words, the
security and confidence of knowing that the Lord is your protection. Not a bad
bargain!
“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can
be against us?” (Romans 8:31 KJV).
Dear Father, thank you for your wisdom. Empower us to make wise and
discreet life choices. I pray this in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be strong and courageous
today choosing wisdom,
