One might
think that all the miracles Jesus had done would have convinced everyone who
saw them. Certainly, raising Lazarus from the dead should have been sufficient
to establish his identity. Yet, many did not believe in him.
It just
proves that some will not believe God, despite the evidence shown them. Then,
because of their obstinate rejection, he hardens their heart, blocks their
understanding, and hinders their faith. They become children of darkness.
Although
some did not believe, there were many who did, even among the religious
leaders. "And as many as received him, to them he gave the power to become
children of God" (John 1:12). They became children of Light.
Faith is
not about seeing miracles. Faith is the conviction of the miracle-worker’s
identity. Faith is turning from the darkness and receiving the light. Realize
today that God is hovering in your darkness, understanding your questions,
ready to fully reveal Christ to you.
Dear
Father, thank you for the Light of Christ. Empower us with faith to step out of
darkness into your marvelous light. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN
Be strong
and courageous today as a child of light,
