Seven Praises

"Seven times a day I praise You, Because of Your righteous judgments. Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble." (Psalm 119:164-165 NKJ)
Praise God seven times a day? I wonder if I do that. Do you? That's a whole lotta praisin going on!

Praising God for his "righteous judgments." Now that's what I'm talking about! So many times we do not clearly understand his judgments. We sort of muddle through mumbling that God doesn't make any mistakes. Yet, we continue to think that just maybe this one is a mistake.

What does a person do when the doctor's report is horrible? What do you do when your employer hands you a pink slip? What do you do when you've lost everything and everybody you love? What do you do when the "present" circumstances just do not seem righteous? At such times, how do you praise him seven times when what you want to do is scream at God?

The answer is built into our faithful, steadfast love of God. O how marvelous are the words of his mouth for they sustain me! O how lovely is his law because it guides and protects me!  O how boundless are his love and mercy and grace for they cover me! O how level and smooth are his paths for there is safety in them and no place to stumble! Talk about seven praises!

O the peace that covers all our sorrows and troubles and understanding! Praise God for his righteous judgments! Praise God for shutting out the anxiety! Praise God for giving assurance and hope! Praise God for empowering trust in his goodness! Praise God for hearing our screams and resolving our issues! Praise God for healing and deliverance! Praise God for his constant, unfailing presence in the midst of our storms! Praise God! Praise God! Praise God! Praise his holy name!

Seven times is not enough, but its a great start!

Dear Father, thank you for your righteous judgments. Empower us to praise you seven times before we scream once. This I pray in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Be strong and courageous with seven praises to God,
